The Terrain’s cabin is designed for five passengers. For greater comfort of the rear occupants, the bench seat can be shifted longitudinally by 200 mm, and to make trips more entertaining, the crossover’s standard equipment includes a powerful audio system supporting the MP3 format. The driver is assisted by the StabiliTrak stability system, ABS, and other systems. Safety is ensured, in particular, by six airbags, including side curtains that protect not only the front but also the rear passengers.

The GMC Terrain engine lineup includes two gasoline units β€” a 2.4-liter four-cylinder producing 182 hp and 236 Nm of torque, and a 264-hp (300 Nm) 3.0-liter V6. The smaller engine is paired with a Hydra-Matic 6T45 6-speed automatic transmission, while the larger one is fitted with the improved Hydra-Matic 6T70. Another difference is that the 2.4-liter version comes with electric power steering, while the 3.0-liter version is equipped with hydraulic power steering. In addition, front-wheel drive is available only with the 2.4-liter engine.
